Reminder: do not add lemon essential oil to your water!

Please do not fall for the dangerous fad of adding essential oils, such as lemon, to your drinking water. Because (essential) oil and water do not mix, it will hit your mouth, esophagus, and other parts of your insides at full concentration. This can cause immediate burning, redness, or irritation. Long-term use of essential oils consumed this way can cause permanent damage to your esophagus, increase your risk of developing ulcers, or even cause kidney and liver distress or failure.

Please use real lemons in your water. This is detoxifying and rejuvenating to your body. Lemons contain vitamins and nutrients not found in the essential oil. I like to slice and quarter lemons and freeze them. I pop a quarter or two in my water in the morning and it gives a pleasant and refreshing taste all day long. If you use lemons, please use organic lemons to avoid the dose of pesticides with your Vitamin C 😉 You can find photos and more info on my old blog here: Lemon water – without the essential oils!
